Susan DosCher
Susan DosCher has been creating art her whole life. Growing up is a small New England town she was fortunate to have the instruction and influence of writers, painters poet’s, and sculptors. As a result she was encouraged to explore many different mediums. She is an imaginative painter, who is driven by her incredible passion for self-expression through her art.
After moving to Florida In 1990 she started a hand painted clothing company selling her creations at art show and festivals throughout the south east. As a fabric artist she won many awards for her unique designs and visionary clothing. A self-taught artist she proudly boasts 12 years of training from the public school system crediting her art teachers for encouraging her to pursue her artistic aspirations and giving her the basics to do so. Her passion for color and design led her to go back to school for interior design She graduated in 1998 with a great interest I Frank Lloyd Wright’s work. Especially in concrete staining and his philosophy of staying close to the earth and blending in with nature
Inspired, she started a concrete and decorative arts company. Specializing in cement overlay and staining as well as faux painting. She found this to be a great outlet for artistic expression incorporating graphic arts, interior design and faux painting for special effects. Creating art on walls, floors, and ceilings she created art for both commercial and residential customers.
Currently DosCher has incorporated many art forms into her paintings. Using concrete to create texture, she also uses stain, ground granite, acrylic and oil to complete her vision. Many of her painting are on canvas but she prefers to use flat Masonite interior door’s that would otherwise be left to the landfills. Giving these doors new life and keeping with the” green” they now have the opportunity to become beautiful and inspiring pieces of art.
